“We were able to finish Paris-Nice because the level of attention and precautions within the team and in the race were very high,”

訳「チームとしてパリ～ニースを最後まで終えることができたのは、チーム内・レース内での注意や用心がしっかりとできていたからや」

“The organization kept the race heavily guarded and allowed us to run in a way that was adequate. Now all activity stops for cycling as a whole. We will wait for what develops next, and then we will make the necessary evaluations.”

訳「主催者側はしっかりとレースを新コロから守ってくれてたし、そのおかげで選手もちゃんと走れた。でも今はもう自転車界全体ですべての活動が止まってる。今後どうなるか待つことになるわけで、それがわかってから、必要なことをいろいろやっていくことになる」

“Today was my first real long climb in a race, and I confirmed my good feelings. When I realized I couldn’t leave alone, I preferred to follow their wheels. Nairo [Quintana] is having a peak of exceptional condition. It was very difficult for anyone to beat him today.”

訳「今日（日曜日）のコースは、ワシにとって今年初の長い登りやったけど、ええ感じで登れた。ライバルたちから離れたらアカンと思ったときも、ついていけてた。キンタナだけは別格の強さやったけどね。今日のキンタナにはちょっと誰も勝てへんわ。」

というわけで、調子はいいようやね。そんな満足感を持って、今はイタリアへ帰国。あとはイタリアで病気にかからんようにしないとね。
