やはりマチューのレース再開ダメだった。新コロ蔓延のためルーマニアのレースから撤退へ。

マチュー・ファン・デル・プールはシーズンの再スタートをルーマニアのレース、Sibiu Cycling Tourで切る予定だった。

そこに立ちはだかっていたのが、ルーマニア政府による入国規制である。理由はもちろん新コロ助19。

しかし、少し前に「ルーマニア政府が渡航制限を緩和。マチュー・ファン・デル・プールのレース再開が可能へ。」で書いたように、EUによる移動制限緩和の方針の決定を受けて、ルーマニア政府も入国制限の緩和を打ち出していた。

それにより、マチューのシーズン再スタートも可能だと思われたが、やっぱりダメだったもよう。チームは同レースに参戦しないことを決定した。

Alpecin-Fenix and their medical staff have decided to withdraw from the @sibiucyclingtour. Accumulating the risk of infection in Romania, the dissuasive advice about travelling to ‘orange zones’, the outlook for the next two weeks and the restrictions afterwards, our medical staff considers our participation in Tour of Sibiu as irresponsible towards riders and staff but also towards the public health in general. 🗣Management Alpecin-Fenix: “Together with our medical staff and the local organizing committee, we closely monitored the situation. Unfortunately, we had to conclude travelling to Romania is not an option. The health of our riders, staff members but also public health is of primary importance. We want to strictly follow all recommendations to eliminate any risk. We would like to express our gratitude towards the local organizing committee for their understanding and their cooperation over the last couple of weeks.” 🗣@mathieuvanderpoel : “It is an unfortunate but understandable decision. We added the Sibiu Cycling Tour to my program in order to get extra race rhythm ahead of Strade Bianche. 日本でも最近感染者数が再び急増しつつある（検査数が増えているので当然か）が、実はルーマニアでも新コロ助が再び増えつつある。そんな中でも現時点でSibiu Cycling Tourは予定どおり開催予定のままである。

しかし、マチューが所属するチームAlpecin-Fenixは、医療スタッフや主催者などと協議した結果、同レースから撤退することを決めた。

このチーム決定について、マチューはこう感想を述べている。

 “It is an unfortunate but understandable decision. We added the Sibiu Cycling Tour to my program in order to get extra race rhythm ahead of Strade Bianche. But during our high-altitude camp in La Plagne I felt physically I’m right on schedule. In that way, I can start my Italian program with a good feeling. I am definitely looking forward to race again.”

訳「不幸なことやけど今回の判断は理解できる。Sibiu Cycling Tourをストラーデ・ビアンケへの準備として追加してたけど、しゃーないわ。でも、高地トレーニングをフランスのLa Plagneでやってたときも、肉体的な調整はばっちりやと感じてたし、イタリアでのレースも良い感じでスタートできそう。またレースをするのがマジで楽しみ」
